AVERNAKØ BÅDEHAVN
Welcome to Avernakø Marina
In the heart of the beautiful South Funen Archipelago lies Avernakø Marina with 60 berths – an idyllic and popular harbour where tranquillity and scenic surroundings meet warm hospitality and maritime charm.
The marina offers good facilities for both sailors and visitors, and you will find a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a day on the water. Enjoy a walk along the coast, take a refreshing swim in the clear sea, or experience the island’s unique nature and local life.
Whether you arrive for a single night or a longer stay, we look forward to welcoming you to Avernakø Marina – a small paradise in the South Funen Archipelago.
Arrival
When entering the harbour, please keep well clear of a northern buoy and a green buoy to avoid the reef. Avernakø Marina has 60 guest berths, and they may fill up quickly during the afternoon. The harbour offers good and modern facilities.
Dining and shopping
On the island you will find several good places to eat, including the Harbour Café located directly by the marina. In the village of Avernak there is a local grocery store where you can stock up for your sailing trip. Groceries, fresh bread and barbecue food are available during the summer months.
At the Landhotel, you can enjoy homemade lunches and the dish of the day – remember to book a table in advance. Around the island you will also find flea markets, roadside stalls and Avernakø Farm Shop with café in Munke, where you can buy local specialities such as vegetables and meat from their own sheep and cattle.
Activities for the whole family
For younger children, there are plenty of opportunities to catch crabs along the harbour piers, play at the small playground or swim at the child-friendly beach east of the harbour. Teenagers can enjoy a game of chess at the harbour square or use the island’s multi-sports court.
If you wish to explore the island, start at the notice board at the harbour, where maps and suggestions for cycling and hiking routes are available.
Bicycles can be rented at the harbour.
Avernakø actually consists of two islands – Avernak and Korshavn – connected by a causeway called Drejet. If you follow the road across Korshavn, you will reach Revkrogen, a peaceful beach perfect for a picnic or a swim.
Unique nature and rich birdlife
Avernakø is a paradise for nature lovers. The island has 19 km of coastline with beautiful beaches and good opportunities for sea trout fishing. Visit the birdwatching tower at Hovedsøen, south of the harbour, offering fantastic views of Ærø, Als, Lyø and Funen, as well as a wide variety of bird species.
The island is also known for its European tree frogs, whose characteristic calls can be heard from ponds on warm summer evenings.
Don’t miss the island’s landmarks – the May tree in Avernak and the Maypole in Munke. Can you spot the difference?
We look forward to welcoming you to Avernakø Marina!
